Japanese Culture 3

A lot of people know that Japanese people love sumo wrestling and a lot of people like it. Do you know why this started though? It started back around the 8th century, maybe even farther, but it started as a prayer for the fruitful rice harvest. Then it grew and evolved into a sport where two men fight each other in a round ring. Now a days, it is the national sport of Japan.
Baseball is also very popular in Japan and you could even say it is up there with Sumo. Their baseball is a lot similar to American Baseball only with a few differences in ball, strike zone and base size. It was introduced to Japan back in the 1870's.
Have you even seen the crazy vending machines in Japan? Japanese people love vending machines and have them for a lot of weird things. Some of these include panties, Kit Kats, fishing bait, rice, and more. There are vending machines for a lot of different thing in Japan.
Japan also has the second lowest homicide rate and the highest proportion of elderly people. There homicide rate in Japan is .50 per 100,000 people and about %23 of Japan is made up of the elderly.
That is all for now and I will have more in the future. Let me know what you think of this.
